Gaming mouse buyers now face a $169.99 price tag for the new Razer Basilisk V4 Pro. The device launches with a 200-hour battery life and a dedicated key for artificial intelligence prompts. Razer updated its Basilisk line for the first time since October 2024, replacing the Basilisk V3 Pro 35K. The new model is available in black and white.
The mouse measures 5.02 inches in length and weighs 3.53 ounces. This is 0.42 ounces lighter than its predecessor, which weighed 3.95 ounces. The reduction in weight makes the device easier to handle, according to senior editor Sarah Jacobsson Purewal of Tom's Hardware. However, she noted that the mouse is still far from ultralight. The design retains a right-handed, contoured shape with bright RGB lighting.
Razer added two new programmable buttons to the device, bringing the total count to 12. One button sits beside the left click key and switches profiles by default. A third thumb button opens the AI prompt interface. The placement of these keys has drawn criticism. The profile button is located at the front edge of the mouse. For users with medium-sized hands and long fingers, this position is difficult to reach comfortably. The AI button pushes the existing thumb cluster backward, making the standard buttons harder to access.
The hardware includes Razer's Focus Pro 50K optical sensor. It supports polling rates up to 8,000 Hz and connects via 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, or USB-C. The sensor reaches 50,000 DPI and 930 IPS. It tracks on most surfaces, including glass that is at least 4mm thick. The fourth-generation optical switches are rated for more than 100 million clicks. Testing showed no misclicks or double-clicks. The tilt wheel offers two tactile modes with 24 and 48 steps, as well as a free-spin mode. The free-spin setting was found to be sensitive, while the precision tactile mode received praise.
Battery performance has improved over the previous model. The V4 Pro provides 200 hours of use at 1,000 Hz over 2.4GHz. This is an increase from 150 hours on the V3 Pro 35K. At the maximum polling rate of 8,000 Hz, the battery lasts 54 hours. The mouse ships with a USB-A dongle, an adapter, and a 6-foot braided cable. It does not include Razer's flexible HyperFlex cables or grip tape.
The Mouse Dock V2 Pro is available separately for $69.99. This wireless charging dock includes an integrated 8,000 Hz receiver and eight RGB zones. It is compatible with several older Razer mice. Razer positions the Basilisk V4 Pro between the DeathAdder V4 Pro and the Naga V3 Pro. The review identifies the lower weight and battery life as strengths. It lists the AI button's effect on layout, the price, and the slightly large size as drawbacks.
