OnePlus has moved the start of its stable Android 17 rollout forward by seven days for users in India. The company began delivering the update to the OnePlus 15 and the OnePlus Pad 4 on October 23. The original internal timeline placed the launch on October 29. This shift means owners of these specific hardware units receive the new operating system earlier than planned.

The software release signals the end of OxygenOS. OxygenOS was the company's custom interface for global markets. It originated as a light modification of standard Android but later became closely aligned with Oppo’s ColorOS. As OnePlus reduced its global operational footprint, leadership announced that OxygenOS would be phased out. Existing devices would migrate to ColorOS to standardize the user experience across the brand's portfolio.

ColorOS 17 is built directly on the Android 17 base. The code was available in beta testing for several weeks prior to this stable release. The move to stable status makes the software available to the general public, replacing the developer-only channel. The initial rollout is limited to two models: the flagship OnePlus 15 smartphone and the OnePlus Pad 4 tablet. No other devices are receiving the update in this first wave.

The company framed the update as a focus on artificial intelligence integration. In a release, OnePlus stated, "ColorOS 17 is here, bringing a new wave of smarter experiences, smoother interactions, and more ways to make your phone work around you." The brand described the design philosophy as "Flow with AI, Flow Everywhere." This approach aims to reduce the effort required to switch between tasks and devices. The goal is to assist users in turning concepts into completed work with less friction.

A second wave of updates is scheduled for October 30. This follow-up release will include the OnePlus 13. The company has also confirmed that other models are in the queue. These include previous generation flagships and several Nord series devices. The rollout will expand to other global regions in the coming days. Specific dates for these international launches have not been announced yet.

The timing of this software shift follows a period of strategic changes for the brand. Reports indicated that the OnePlus 15 and other recent models sold out in the United States after the company scaled back most of its global operations. The brand recently unveiled the OnePlus 16, which features a 9,000 mAh battery. The transition to ColorOS unifies the software stack for these new and existing hardware lines.
