A cold front will move across southern Colorado early Saturday, lowering high temperatures by 10 to 15 degrees to below seasonal averages. The shift will bring stronger winds and additional rainfall to the region.

Winds are forecast to strengthen Friday and continue through the weekend, with gusts reaching 40 to 45 mph. Tropical moisture shifting east will deliver more precipitation, with total accumulations ranging from 0.10 to 0.75 inches across the area.

Friday temperatures remain warmer than average in several locations. Colorado Springs will see a low of 51 and a high of 73, with early showers clearing to a drier, sunny afternoon. Pueblo is forecast to reach 81 after a low of 55, with on and off showers throughout the day. Canon City will hit 75 after a low of 54, experiencing a brief lull in moisture by afternoon. Woodland Park will remain above seasonal averages with a low of 43 and a high of 56. Plains areas will see a low of 60 and a high of 83, while mountain areas will range from 41 to 59.

Conditions in the San Juan Mountains and southwestern corner of the state remain hazardous. Heavy rainfall continues to pose risks of flooding and mudslides in those areas. Flood watches, severe thunderstorm watches, and several flood warnings remain in effect across western Colorado.

The front is expected to carry into the weekend, bringing cold rain and possible snow. Snow levels are likely to drop as the cold air moves through. The brief pause in Friday afternoon moisture in some areas will end as the new push of moisture arrives Friday night.

Forecasters expect the weather to dry out next week, with temperatures returning to more seasonal levels. The current pattern marks a sharp transition from warmer than average conditions to a cooler, wetter system.
