BMK Pharma has broken ground on a 503B outsourcing facility in Allen, Texas, that will produce sterile compounded medications for hospitals and clinics. The project represents a $50 million investment in the city's industrial sector and aims to expand domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity.

The site is located near the intersection of Exchange Parkway and U.S. Highway 75. Construction is currently underway, with the company targeting a completion date for the summer of 2027. A specific start date for manufacturing operations has not yet been determined. The facility will generate more than 100 high-skilled jobs in fields including chemistry, engineering, automation, and pharmacy.

Dr. Jay Bhaumik, the founder of BMK Pharma, cited the city's opportunities as the primary reason for choosing Allen. In an official statement, Bhaumik described the location as a key site for the company's operations and expressed enthusiasm for continued investment in the area. The Allen Economic Development Corporation attributed the decision to the city's skilled workforce and favorable business environment.

The new plant will operate as a 503B outsourcing facility under U.S. Food and Drug Administration oversight. This designation allows the company to produce compounded medications in large batches for medical institutions, distinguishing the operation from traditional retail pharmacies. The facility must adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure product safety and quality.

BMK Pharma will focus on sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing, specifically injectable medications and other dosage forms. The company plans to use automation and advanced technologies to improve production efficiency. Beyond its own products, the facility will offer contract development and manufacturing services to other pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms, allowing partners to outsource production without maintaining their own infrastructure.

Company representatives joined Allen Mayor Chris Schulmeister and local economic development leaders on October 1 to mark the progress of the construction site. The project aligns with Allen's strategy to attract advanced manufacturing businesses. By increasing local production volume, BMK Pharma aims to support a more reliable medication supply chain and improve drug availability and affordability.

The facility will serve as a production center for healthcare providers while also supporting the development needs of other biotech firms. This dual role positions the Allen site as a hub for both large-scale manufacturing and specialized research services. The project adds to the regional industrial base and reinforces the city's growing presence in the pharmaceutical industry.
