The former president linked the conflict's financial toll to an attack on Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign ad.

Barack Obama accused the Trump administration of spending two trillion dollars on an unnecessary war with Iran during a campaign stop in Ohio on Saturday.
The former president addressed a crowd supporting Democratic candidates in the state's upcoming midterm elections. He argued that President Donald Trump made poor foreign policy choices that drained the national treasury. Obama stated that the US-Israel war on Iran was a conflict that the public did not request.
Obama connected the war's financial burden to the current political mood in Ohio. He told voters that they now have the opportunity to reject two years of what he described as chaos and incompetence. The former president used the phrase "cruelty and corruption" to characterize the current administration's performance in office.
The speech also targeted Vivek Ramaswamy, the Republican candidate for governor. Obama criticized an attack ad run by Ramaswamy's campaign that questioned the credibility of Democratic gubernatorial rival Amy Acton. The advertisement featured Acton's mother, Donna Arthur, who disputed Acton's childhood claims of homelessness and abuse. Obama noted that Acton has not seen her mother since 1978, while her brother has verified the account of abuse by a stepfather who died in 2004.
Former Senator Sherrod Brown joined Obama on stage to discuss his own bid for the Senate seat held by Jon Husted. Current polls indicate a slight Democratic advantage in both the gubernatorial and Senate races, although analysts expect the final results to be closely contested.
