Samsung Japan has released a specific timeline for the next major software update for its mobile devices. The company confirmed that One UI 9, the interface built on Android 17, will begin rolling out to 40 specific models in October 2026.
The update is scheduled to reach these devices by the end of November in Japan. While the dates are region-specific, the list of eligible hardware is expected to apply globally. The rollout follows the initial launch of One UI 9 on the Galaxy S26 series in September.
Flagship smartphones included in this batch are the Galaxy S26, S26+, S26 Ultra, S25, S25 Ultra, S24, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, S23, and S23 Ultra. Foldable devices receiving the update include the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5.
Mid-range phones on the list include the Galaxy A57, A55, A54, A36, and A25. The tablet lineup is extensive, covering the Galaxy Tab S11, S11 Ultra, S10, S10+, S10 Ultra, S10 FE, S10 FE+, S10 Lite, S9, S9+, S9 Ultra, S9 FE, and S9 FE+.
Additional tablet models scheduled for the update are the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2024, Tab A11, Tab A11+/5G, and Tab Active 5 Pro. The list omits several devices, including the Plus versions of recent S-series flagships and many Galaxy A models sold in other regions.
Samsung indicated that the global rollout will extend beyond the Japanese timeline. Many entry-level devices are expected to receive the update through December and January. The company is continuing to distribute the software to other markets as the current period concludes.
The release of this schedule provides a concrete end date for the first wave of Android 17 devices. Owners of the listed models in Japan can now expect the installation prompt during the specified two-month window.
