Vice President JD Vance to Hold Rally in Weatherford, Texas

Drivers in Weatherford, Texas, should expect delayed commutes and restricted access to key thoroughfares this Thursday. Local law enforcement is implementing traffic controls to secure the venue for Vice President JD Vance. The changes affect residents and workers who rely on specific highway corridors for daily travel.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, at JRJ Construction, 1140 Ric Williamson Memorial Highway. Doors will open at 10 a.m., with the program starting at 12:15 p.m. Vance is listed to speak at 1:50 p.m. The gathering is part of the Republican Party's campaign activities leading up to Election Day.

Police announced that Ric Williamson Highway will be closed between Interstate 20 and Greenwood Road for the duration of the event. Ranger Highway will also close to through traffic between Greenwood Cutoff Road and Greenwood Road. Residents and workers may still enter that section of Ranger Highway if they notify the officers directing traffic.

Traffic on Mineral Wells Highway will see eastbound vehicles shifted to the inside lane. Officials recommend using South Bowie Drive and Greenwood Road as alternate routes. The road closures and traffic adjustments will remain in effect from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Weatherford Police Department urged drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time for their trips. They instructed motorists to follow the directions of on-site traffic officers. Information regarding the closures and schedule was released through the social media accounts of the Texas GOP and the Weatherford Police Department.
