Jerry Jones Rules Out Further Coaching Changes Before Cowboys Visit Eagles
Dallas and Philadelphia are both 2-4 and enter Monday's game after the NFC East failed to record a single win in the previous two weeks.

Jerry Jones addressed the stability of the Dallas Cowboys organization on Wednesday during the NFL's annual fall meeting. The team owner stated that he does not anticipate any further coaching changes for the remainder of the 2026 season. He characterized the recent addition of defensive assistant Mike Pettine as a strategic and unique move for the staff. This comment comes as the Cowboys prepare to face the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night in Philadelphia.
Both teams hold 2-4 records and enter the matchup with little margin for error in the division standings. The New York Giants currently lead the NFC East with a 3-2-1 record. The Cowboys and Eagles sit directly behind New York, separated only by the Giants' extra game. A win for either squad would keep them within striking distance of the division title.
The context for this rivalry is defined by a recent statistical anomaly. In the past two weeks, all four teams in the NFC East played twice and lost every game. This marks the first time since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger that a division has gone winless over a two-week span. The 0-8 record for the division highlights the collective struggle facing the group.
Philadelphia faces a significant offensive adjustment. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is on injured reserve with blood clots and is expected to miss the rest of the season. Tanner McKee, who spent the first two years of his career as a backup, will start. Last week's loss to Carolina was McKee's first meaningful start, and he had only two days of practice with the first team. This week, he has more than a full week to work with first-year offensive coordinator Sean Mannion.
McKee noted that he has a good preparation process and intends to consult more frequently with the coaching staff rather than preparing alone. The Eagles' running game presents another challenge. Saquon Barkley has missed more than two games with a hamstring injury, and backups Will Shipley and Tank Bigsby are also injured. Carson Steele, signed from the practice squad last week, suffered a shoulder injury against Carolina. Dameon Pierce was the only Eagles back to carry the ball in that game, gaining 35 yards. Dallas has allowed 4.7 yards per carry this season.
Dallas has its own offensive and defensive issues. The Cowboys rank 30th in the league in defense under first-year coordinator Christian Parker. Offensively, the team scored only 29 points in their last two losses, which included a 23-13 defeat to Green Bay last week. Dallas has now scored fewer than 20 points in consecutive starts by Dak Prescott for the first time since 2019.
Individual milestones are on the line for both rosters. Javonte Williams is the second Cowboys player with seven rushing touchdowns through the first six games, trailing only Emmitt Smith's 1994 and 1995 totals. CeeDee Lamb has 48 receptions, which ranks third in the NFL and is a franchise record for the first six games. He is also approaching 8,000 career receiving yards. Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert needs one catch to reach third place on the franchise's career receptions list.
The Cowboys are favored by 4 points for the Monday night contest. Dallas is 3-3 against the spread this season, while Philadelphia is 1-5. The Cowboys lead the all-time series 72-58 and won their last meeting 24-21 on November 23, 2025. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. CST on ESPN. The Eagles will play at Washington on November 1 before hosting the Giants to conclude their divisional schedule.
The outcome of Monday's game will determine the momentum for both clubs as they approach the final stretch of the divisional slate. The Giants' lead remains intact but vulnerable if Dallas or Philadelphia secure a victory. The teams will next face opponents outside the division before returning to divisional play later this month.
