University of Texas at Austin officials introduced UT Dell Medicine on Monday, formally naming its academic health system. The rebrand consolidates patient care, research, and education under a single identity. The existing clinical practice and ambulatory surgery center, formerly known as UT Health Austin, will operate under this new name immediately.

The system includes the Dell Medical School and integrates multiple departments to connect care across specialties. Current services already cover primary care and specific fields such as orthopedics, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, pulmonology, and urology. The new structure aims to integrate prevention, treatment, and recovery into a single model.

UT Austin President Jim Davis described the move as a fundamental shift that places patients at the center of the university's mission. He stated that the system will utilize the full strength of the university to work as one team for every patient. Davis expressed pride in bringing this new model health system to Texas and the world.

Claudia Lucchinetti, M.D., the university's executive vice president for medical affairs, presented the new name and logo during an unveiling. The event took place at the University's Health Transformation Building, where new signage was installed. Lucchinetti noted that the change reflects a shared belief in altering how healthcare is delivered and how discoveries reach patients.

The executive leader outlined five primary areas of focus for the future UT Dell Medical Center, which is scheduled to open in 2030. These areas include cardiovascular care, cancer treatment, neurological and transplant services, and advanced intensive care. The plan relies on collaboration with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, which will embed its physicians directly into the new care delivery system.

Once fully operational, UT Dell Medicine intends to double its clinical capability by adding more physicians and advanced practice providers. The system also projects that patient volumes will more than triple. These goals build on the existing work of Dell Medical School faculty and learners who currently treat patients through partnerships with community organizations like Ascension Seton and Central Health.

The expansion aims to expand access to advanced cancer treatments and clinical trials for patients in Central Texas. The integration of technology and expertise across the university system is designed to recognize health changes earlier. The new identity unifies the educational and clinical arms of the institution under a single administrative and operational framework.
